In the next few days there are going to be some changes to the Hornby.com forum. As these changes will have an impact on the way you use the forum we would like to take this opportunity to explain the changes and how they will effect you.
You nickname is now yours for life. We will be removing the ability to change your forum nickname due to confusion over user identities among the community. What this means to you: Existing users now have a limited amount of time to change their nickname before these changes are implemented. New users will have to ensure they choose a suitable nickname when registering.
New users, or users that change their email address, will be required to confirm their new address before using the forum. There will be a link within the registration email to verify your email address actually belongs to you. What this means to you: When registering a new account you will not be able to post in the forum until you have verified your email address. You may read the forum, but posting will be disabled.
Any website addresses posted in the forum will be hidden until a moderator can approve the address. Once a website has been approved it will no longer be hidden in the future. What this means to you: Don't be alarmed if you post a link that is held for moderation. It is merely a precaution and is usually resolved within 24hrs.
View your own, or another users entire posting history on the forum. Useful for finding out who-said-what-when or just finding a post you made that has now slipped off the front page.
Users breaking the forum guidelines in any way will find themselves banned from the forum. The ban may be temporary or permanent depending on the severity of the violation, or the previous track record of the user. What this means to you: Abide by the forum guidelines!
